Styrofoam Insulated Panel - SIP

Eco-Friendly SIP-Home Project - Series 1

SIP Home Construction Summary: SIP's are a great way to build an Energy Efficient Home.
From an electrician's point of view, wiring a SIP-Home is a little more challenging, however once you understand what you have to work with the wiring goes just fine.

SIP - Styrofoam Insulated Panel Homes

SIP's are a great way to build an Energy Efficient Home. The Key is timing and the other contractors understanding that everyone must be willing to have what I call "Occupational Courtesy", that is being considerate of what components need to be installed before the next phase begins. If you don't have this, something will be left out or worse something will not have a vital connection.
I really believe that SIP homes will out perform standard stick-frame homes when it comes to energy savings.

I will be adding more photos of this SIP-Home project as time permits. As you will see from the plan in the photos below, this SIP-Home is not your ordinary American home, and it isn't very large, however the whole upper floor will become a deck complete with a roof, but open on the perimeter and totally weather proof. This particular home was designed by and architect in Tokyo Japan and is being built for an owner connected with the film industry. This SIP-Home is located in California where the owner selected a beautiful location off the beaten path, complete with Bears, Snakes and Bugs of every color and size.
This home is currently under construction.

Ken Meffan is the Builder of this fine SIP-Home. Ken is a meticulous builder who has a distinctive love for the natural beauty of wood, and a great respect for those who just don't want an "average" home, in fact Ken prefers to build homes which are in harmony with Nature. Ken is an incredible Craftsman and posses "gifts" of being able to compliment his homes with accents of nature.
