Wiring a Dimmer Switch For a Ceiling Fixture
[ad#block]Electrical Question: I replaced a ceiling fan and light with a ceiling light fixture. Now, I’d like to install a dimmer switch for the ceiling light.
- There are two light switches in the box on the wall.
- They controlled the fan and light.
- It appears that the receptacles in the room are also run through these switches.
- Is putting a dimmer switch possible?
- How do I wire it?

How to Wire a Dimmer Switch For a Ceiling Fixture
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate.
Tools Required: Basic Electricians Pouch Hand Tools and Voltage Tester.
Materials: Dimmer Switch 600 Watt 120 volt, wire connectors.
Estimated Time: Depends on personal level experience and ability to work with tools.
Precaution: Identify the light circuit, turn it OFF and Tag it with a Note before working with the wiring for the dimmer.
