Should a Ceiling Fan Be Limited to One Hour of Operation?
[ad#block]Question: My handyman just informed me it is dangerous to put our bedroom ceiling fan on a timer that stays on for more than 60 minutes at a time. I found a control that would allow it to stay on for up to 8 hours on a timer, but he said this is hazardous. I don’t understand why since I keep turning it back on after the 60 minutes are up anyway.
This electrical question came from: Athena, a Homeowner from Pleasanton, California.
Dave’s Reply:
Thanks for your electrical question Athena.
I have never heard of such a danger or concern, in fact I would confront the handyman and ask him what the concern is or what he can reference as his source of information. As long as the ceiling fan was installed properly forget about any time limit. I can personally confess that we sometimes leave our ceiling fans on for hours, sometimes all day and into the evening without a single concern.
