Summary: Electrical Repairs - Part 1 - Emergency electrical wiring repairs should be made using the right materials for your particular application. Here are a few choices to help you decide what you'll need.

Electrical wiring repair options when working with damaged buried electrical cables

Methods for repairing buried electrical wiring

Direct burial electrical wiring cables (UF - Underground Feeder Cable) and electrical conduits can become damaged from a variety of situations and reasons and will need to be repaired in a way that will be a safe and lasting repair.

The environmental moisture and possible natural occurring corrosive elements will require the right preparation and electrical repair method.

Recently I made two connections and had to use different methods that I will cover below.

Tools for Electrical Repairs of Cables

The first repair required a direct burial so I chose the Scotch Cast Inline Resin Repair. I have used this kit several times for electrical and telephone cable repairs.

A word of advice - choose the right size to allow enough room for your all of your electrical wire connectors to fit in the cast. If your cable is not long enough to allow for wire nuts, then use butt-crimp connector

Crimp Connectors, making sure that you are using the right size connector for the gauge of wire to be connected, and make sure to crimp down tightly using the correct crimping pliers as shown below.
